Silgan Closures

Silgan Closures Europe

We are pleased to announce that Silgan’s acquisition of Portola has been officially completed.  Our key objective in this combination is to strengthen our collective closure capabilities and very importantly, further enhance our ability to deliver unparalleled service and technical support to our valued customers.  We will now quickly embark upon combining these two organizations and taking best practices from both companies will ensure that we are able to achieve the world class product and service solutions that we aspire to achieve.  You have our uncompromised commitment to make this integration seamless for all of our customers.

The first and important step in achieving these objectives is to realign some of the Portola businesses with the respective strengths of our Silgan organization.

The European business will continue to be led by the current Portola Managing Director, Glenn Heighington who will be reporting to Matthias Loerincz, President of the newly formed Silgan Closures Europe business.  The Portola facilities located in the UK and Czech Republic will form a key foundation for the plastic closure growth within Silgan Closures Europe.

We believe that the Portola businesses will thrive under this organizational realignment by realizing the strong benefits of our combined positions in the regions, operational know-how and focused leadership which we hope to align in developing further growth strategies and service solutions for these respective markets.  Our customers are integral to our success and our aim in this combination is to ensure that you realize the benefits of a further strengthened organization.

My sincere thanks for your ongoing business and we will continue to communicate with you on any related developments.  Meanwhile, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your sales contact.

Matthias Loerincz
